This page details distinctive beliefs that will be upheld at NECYC. The Committee does believe that these are in accord with God’s word - the Bible. All leaders must not teach anything that differs from these, whilst at NECYC.
1) We believe that the Bible teaches God made us male or female and we should act in accordance with the biological reality of God’s good design. Although there is the extremely rare anomaly of intersex individuals this does not undermine the normative reality that the overwhelming majority of people have a specific gender or sex assigned to them, at or before birth, that cannot be changed.
2) We believe that God’s plan for sexual relationships is to be expressed only within the context of marriage. Sex is a gift of God given to mankind, for the procreation of children and to be enjoyed solely within a marriage relationship, as defined, and described by God.
3) We believe that God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female.
4) The miraculous apostolic sign gifts that were prominent in the early church have ceased. They played a particular role in authenticating the declared words of the apostles and those closely associated with them. These ministers of the gospel performed “signs and wonders” and miracles to confirm the gospel they proclaimed. Now that the foundation has been laid, the days of the apostles and the associated apostolic sign gifts (Speaking in tongues, miracle healers etc) have ended.
